Jean's Camino for Palestine

Mar 2018

Pilgrimage into the next phase of life

Preparing for the journey.

Not long to go ...

9:22pm

Yesterday was spent mostly thinking about what I need to take with me on my Camino. It seems it is all a question of grams. So I have purchased a bag that only weighs 1 kg!! Can you believe it!I have also indulged in a number of lightweight items that will make the journey that bit easier - leggings (long johns in merino wool!), serene knickers (that is what they are called - promising a chaff-free and comfortable trip), travel towel etc. I am attaching photos of my bag and money belt. I am really pleased with the bag. It is recommended that you take no more than 1/10th of your body weight so that doesn't leave much room for extras. Everything will be weighed.

Getting closer

3 weeks away!

10:40pm

My journey will start on 7th from Glasgow. The first 12 days will be a bit of a holiday, visiting friends and places. Then the Camino starts - from St Jean Pied de Port on 19th. Wondering if I will be able to walk the high route stopping at Refuge d'orisson or if the snow will force me to go via Valcarlos. Just now I am preoccupied with the weight of my bag and making sure everything is as light as a feather.
